I had a useful chat with Brendan yesterday and want to share a few things…
- As those of you who sailed yesterday know, we are ok to leave our trolleys on the foreshore between the pontoon and the club on Wednesdays until the end of the year because there are no boats along there now that might need access to the water (N.B. not Saturdays when the Youth fleets will be using that area). Please continue to leave the area beyond the pontoon clear as there are inflatables there that need to be accessible
- The peak haul out period has passed so the yard staff will endeavour to be out of our way when we launch on Wednesdays – Brendan thanked us for our cooperation
- The club is on the look out for boats that turnout in fewer than 50% of the races they have signed up for and will be encouraging those boats to vacate the yard (irrespective of whether they have paid for the whole series) – so let’s keep up those high numbers (18 yesterday😊)
- They are making progress on the interceptor. Apparently the UK’s leading interceptor experts are at the club this week and the plan is to fit a screen to make it easier to remove all the lovely solids that come off the bottom of the boats being cleaned and thereby keep the pipework to the interceptor clear so it can actually do its job. They are planning to do this work in November to avoid interfering with Wednesday sailing – watch this space
- Brendan is looking for some industrial strength timed flow taps to fit to the hoses to avoid water wastage but he can’t find any that have threaded ends to fit hose attachments. If anybody knows where to source these, please let him know
