Unfortunately after Pete’s epic race report for Saturday I find myself in the position of having to write this Wednesday’s race report.  I had clearly said to him prior to the race, “let’s not come third today, we’ve got a lot on at the moment”!  So, this report will be shorter and with less or no incidents to tell on, perhaps rather boring.

Fourteen Fifteens showed up for today’s race.  It was gentle SSE 4 – 9 knots, warm and sunny.  Fi and the race team set a course of Glovers – Tregonwell both to port with an ambitious five laps.  A well behaved clear start saw boat going right, middle and left to find Glovers.  Right was right with Roberta and John, 4016 leading into the mark followed by Phil and Martin 4058, Ian and Mike 3936, Crispin and Steve 4101, Graham and Sara 3758 followed by us 3793 having gone up the middle which as Ann and I discussed in the changing room looked superb at one point.

It paid to go left down the run with place changes at the leeward mark as 4058 took control and remained ahead thereafter, 3936 followed them round with 3758, 4016 and 3793.  I believe there were other gains and losses but forgive me I’m not allowed to look behind and didn’t expect to be writing the report.  The tide had now started ebbing so we quickly reached Glovers again and set off downwind, it was with great relief whilst alongside the box the shorted course flag was hoisted and the 2 ‘toot’s’ sounded and we were able to finish after 2 rounds. 

hat’s the beauty of having a race team that knows us so well as we were able to get our boats out before the tide caused any problems. 

So it was a genteel Wednesday afternoon sail, no slips, trips or incidents to report.  Indeed the only note I can think of is that it was one of the truly rare occasions that Mr Ledger and Alan didn’t come out to play, shame as it could have been 15 15’s!
