Haven Electric Project

Pedestal Upgrades

LATEST UPDATES:

  • The Pearl Service has returned to the normal location

We are about to start upgrading the electrical pedestals in the haven.

The new pedestals will provide cloud-based metering, various payment possibilities, plug out disconnect and most importantly, a safe utility system.

The contractor, Marina and Holiday Park Solutions, will be on site from Monday 9th September and the work should take around 8-10 weeks.

During this work, there will be some disturbance to the normal operation of the Haven.

We will be changing all the pedestals in the Haven, including the water pedestals and walkway lighting.

This will start with a couple of days of testing which will require the power to be off during the day across the haven. This will be to test the integrity of the cabling that we are planning to keep.

When the testing is complete, we will start work on Pontoons A, B, C, H and J. Once the cables are laid on these pontoons, they will move on to the remaining pontoons.

The contractor is planning on running the cables first, then wiring the new pedestals and distribution boards. This will be done in 2 phases to reduce the down time on each pontoon, cables first then pedestals. The cables get run in the service trays at the side of the pontoon which means the pontoons will still be passable with care.

If you need access to your boat, you will meet a barrier at the end of the pontoon.
Please make yourself known to one of the contractors and they will be able to advise you about what to watch out for on the way to your boat.

In most circumstances, you will still be able to access your boat, but if the work is on your pontoon, please assist us by keeping your visits to a minimum.

There are auxiliary installations that need to occur to support the new infrastructure. This will include a new haven water main, transmitters, walkway lighting and new distribution panels.
These areas will be worked on during the installation and may cause some disruption, but we will try and keep this to quiet times.

Once the system is installed on the first couple of pontoons and they are powered up, we will be able to set up the back-end software.

There are various options with this, and we will need to test the various scenarios to ensure we choose the set up that works best with the admin and finance teams. Once we are happy the back end is set up correctly, we will email berth holders a ‘How To’ guide so they know how it will operate.

We will also run 2 training sessions for members on how the new system works, run in conjunction with the installer.
One of these will be during an afternoon, and one will be run as an evening winter talk. Dates to be confirmed.

Hopefully, this will be a big improvement for the Haven users and represents a huge investment by the club on the infrastructure.
Please work with us during the installation to help reduce any disruption.
