Flying Fifteen

Flying Fifteens are planing two person sportsboats that are evenly matched, providing close racing. Parkstone has the biggest active fleet of Flying Fifteens in the world, with 33 boats at the start of 2024.  We race every Saturday and Wednesday afternoon from Easter to Christmas, in winds up to 30 kts, with turnouts of over 20 boats and typically 25 boats in Poole Week. We have National, European and World Champions and even an Olympian in our ranks and about one third of the fleet is sailed by mixed teams, with three (very competitive) helmswomen amongst them.  The fleet has a strong camaraderie with help/ advice always available and an excellent social programme.  Post-race gossip is hoovered up in the bar to be included in (often irreverent) race reports. There are often openings for new crew and any members interested in a trial in a Flying Fifteen would be most welcome.

UKFFA want to understand the level of interest in attending this year's Nationals and International Event (parallel with the Worlds) at Weymouth and whether anyone is interested in lending a boat to overseas visitors.  If you think you might be entering the Nationals or the International event, or finding out more about lending your boat, please let Mervyn or Bill Chard (UKFFA President) know
