The Wayfarer Fleet at Parkstone YC is one of the larger doublehanded dinghy classes sailed at the club, with a fleet numbering around 35 boats, and good racing turnouts. The boat can also be raced successfully by crews with a wide range of combined crew weights.
Racing in the fleet is competitive but caters for a range of abilities, with some members having started racing in Wayfarers and others having transferred from other classes. Racing takes place on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons during the summer. Most races are within the harbour starting from the PYC race platform, however the racing calendar also includes races in Poole Bay to Studland or Swanage, Round the Islands, and a popular one-way race up the reed-lined river to Wareham that ends with a picnic. The class also arranges a number of well attended social events.
