I grew up in Oxford and despite being a long way from the sea, started sailing with my family in the Solent. During my teens I moved to team racing in Laser 2s as well as returning to the Solent to now race, when possible. I moved here in 2001 and it was a natural progression to join Parkstone as my wife, Jane, had been a lifelong member. I enjoy both social sailing and racing. I yacht race, often crewing on a Monday and occasionally racing our own boat on a Thursday. I have spent time in the J24 fleet and have occasionally been seen in a Laser. It was important to us to introduce our daughters to the sport that has given Jane and I so much. Luckily they seem to share our enthusiasm having progressed through the AB fleet and are now keen sailors in Toppers. They also enjoy the odd race on our family boat. I have been on the Youth Week Committee for 7 years, the House and Social Committee for 6 years, General Committee for 3 years and Rear Commodore House for the past 2 years.

I am a lapsed Yachtmaster Instructor and have owned cruising yachts for over 30 years. Over the years I have explored, the east coast of Ireland, Normandy and Brittany as well as passages along the Belgian Coast and an exploration of the Dutch canals as far as the German borders. My future sailing aspirations include Northern Spain and of course our delightful home waters. I am currently on the General Committee with responsibility for the facilities Management of the Clubhouse.

Having first sailed at Parkstone as a visitor from Burghfield Sailing Club over 30 years ago, I joined as a member in 2006. Since then I have regularly sailed a Laser and then ILCA radial in club racing. As our family grew, we have introduced our children to sailing and now can regularly be found supporting the Youth sailing effort, with one child in the Topper fleet and one in the AB fleet. When not on the water, I teach at a local primary school. I was elected to the General Committee in 2021 and enjoy the challenge of helping to ensure the smooth running of our diverse and active club.

I’ve sailed all my life, in a mix of yachts and dinghies, and now race actively in the Parkstone XOD fleet with X25 Morven. I was class captain for the XODs from 2019-2022. And, I do a bit of kitesurfing / foiling in the winter. My three children have grown up and learned to sail through the AB fleet, and I’ve done more than my fair share of time in the Child and Parent fleet over the years. They have now moved on through Toppers, and occasionally sail in the Feva fleet. I’ve been active in helping race officer the Blue Fleet for the younger sailors at Youth Week, and organising many of our Friday Fun sessions. I now sit on the General Committee at the club, including helping on the House and Social Committee. And in my professional life, I’m a Non Exec director of various internet / software based businesses.

I grew up in Portsmouth, learning to sail then race in Langstone and Portsmouth Harbours. After training and practising as a doctor in London, I joined Parkstone YC in 1997. I started crewing in RS400, then RS200, before my children started to regularly sail in the club’s youth fleets, progressing through AB’s, Cadets, Commodore Challenge team and finally RS200s. During this period I was AB class captain, Youth Week PRO and Youth Week Coordinator, holding each post for a couple of years. Strålende is the family Nordic folkboat, berthed in the Haven. She has enjoyed success over the years in the RTIR, Folkboat week and other Solent regattas. My wife Sarah and I also crew on XODs and keel boats belonging to the many Parkstone members with whom club membership has fostered enduring friendships. As I approach retirement I endeavour to find more time to step back up the volunteering roles that make our club so successful.
