A good tack

Recorded during a training day with Adam Bowers, this video shows a good tack in 5-8 knots of wind.

Things to note:
  1. Slow into the tack with only half to two thirds of the rudder used. Allowing the maximum gain to windward to be made.
  2. Jib released only after the boat has passed through the wind.
  3. Crew and helm only start to move with boat almost on the new close-hauled course.
  4. Once through the wind, more rudder is applied to bear away to the new course more quickly
  5. No big oversteer coming out of the tack, giving away VMG.
