Please find below key information to get you started. If you would like to get involved please get in touch by contacting the class captain with your sailors age and any experience to date.

The fleet offers the following:

• A training course for absolute beginners. This 8 week course runs from the start of May. In 2021 we will be running beginners courses on Tuesday afternoons and Sunday mornings and afternoons.

• Six club Optimists are available for hire, so you can "try before you buy".

• A fun range of social activites like picnics and sail-aways both on and off the water.

• Tuesday afternoon training/racing from 5pm to 7pm from April to September.

• Sunday training/racing from April to September. 

• A very successful Open Meeting at PYC with over 100 boats in 3 fleets (Coached Regatta, Regatta and Main Fleet).

• Regular training with external coaches for more advanced groups.

• A programme of attending the RYA training squads and the Optimist Class Association National & Regional Events. Please refer to the Southern and South West Region Optimist Class for a list of regional events and the UK Class Association for national level events.

• Winter training between October and March for various ability groups above a certain standard.
