PERISHER SERIES

The duty rota for the Perisher is coming along nicely, but we do still need one more volunteer PLEASE! Ideally, we usually get people who are not sailing in the Perisher to volunteer so that it doesn’t reduce the number competing.
Please let us know if you’re up for a free boat ride in a RIB on a Sunday morning on the 23^rd March.
DUTYMAN
Dutyman is imminently going to be opened. Please make sure you book your TWO compulsory duties on Dutyman for this year. Those doing the Arripaye, don’t worry we will fill the slots on Dutyman for you.
Book your duties promptly, so you can arrange a convenient day for yourselves!! On the 1^st June 2025 anyone who has not booked their duties WILL be automatically allocated slots by Dutyman!! It may be that these duties are not convenient for you and you will have to rearrange them for yourselves. Chris and I will not do it for you!! You have been warned!!! Book your duties as soon as possible they go very quickly!!!
NEW RULES TALKS WITH ALAN DAVIS
Thank you, to Alan who will be delivering two very informative talks this year, covering the changes in the New Racing Rules of Sailing 2025-2028. They will be in Training Room 2 on Tuesday 11^th March and Tuesday 18^th March starting at 19:00. We will attempt to put these on Zoom too!
TROPHIES
Please can all ILCA Fleet Trophies that have been awarded be brought back to the club bar or reception. We will then be able to get them engraved for the Prize Giving. This year the Prize Giving will be on Saturday 26^th April 2025 at Da Vinci’s Italian Restaurant, on the Quay, commencing at 19:00. Put the date in your diaries now. More details coming very soon.
RACE CALENDAR 2025
This year’s Fixture List is on the ILCA Fleet page on the Club Website. Thank you to John Lyons for putting this on the website for us. The start times are also posted there.
CLUB RACING
It is worth noting that normal Club racing starts unusually before Easter this year, on Saturday 12^th April. This means you should be able to bring your boats down a week before the Club Easter Regatta which is on the 19^th and 20^th April.
EASTER MINI SERIES
We are organising an Easter Mini Series this year on Easter Monday 21^st April. The start time will be 14:00 which allows time to come in and rest before the Monday Evening Series races begin. If anyone is available to be RO or ARO please let us know.
ILCA MASTERS SPRING WORLD QUALIFIER 2025
The ILCA Masters Spring World Qualifier is being held at Parkstone YC this year on 3^rd and 4^th May. You will need to be an ILCA UK Class Association Member to enter, so if you wish to sail in this event, it is worth sorting this out before you try to enter, as it will make your lives easier. Entry will be via the ILCA UK Website.
BIG MONDAY
This year Big Monday is on the 14^th July 2025 hopefully we can tempt you out with cake and free beer to break the record yet again this year. We have 66 to beat.
SUPER SATURDAY
It is the 50^th Anniversary this year of Lasers/ILCA’s being adopted by Parkstone YC. We are organising a big club race on Saturday 26^th July, where we hope to get the most Lasers/ILCA’s, from the club, on the water ever, for a Saturday afternoon club race! In the evening there is going to be a BIG PARTY, hosted by the club for the Lasers and the XOD’s who are celebrating their 100^th Anniversary this year too. We plan to invite all Laser sailors from the past to come along too, so if you know someone who sailed a Laser in the past at Parkstone, please let them and us know, so we can contact them and get them along. We are hoping to have some fun events on the following Sunday 27^th July. If you have any great ideas about a fun event, we can run on the Sunday, please let us know, James Kilburn our new social secretary will be pleased to have any ideas you can come up with. eg. paddle board races, elect a new fleet captain raffle, laser polo, origami etc.
