VOLUNTEERING SIGNAL
A big thank you to everyone who has been volunteering at Parkstone this autumn! Not just all the race management, support and training on the water, but a big shout out as well to the boat jumblers, gardeners, Thursday gangers, Harbour Watchers, book-clubbers, quizzers and for all those hours spent in meetings and working behind the scenes. What a multi-talented, enthusiastic lot we are.
Don’t hide your light!
So what’s your special talent? A craft or DIY skill? Design, content creation, good organiser? Job-related skills? And of course anything watersports related. We’ve asked you, along with your membership renewal, to let us know if there’s anything special about you that you’d be happy to offer as a volunteer. As much or as little as you like. Anything at all, whatever you can do, whenever you can do it, we’ll likely find a use for you. Visit Membership Renewal Information 2026
Wanted - mentors and befrienders
Could you help a new member find their feet in their provisional membership year? Take them along with you on a Dutyman session, or get them on your boat (or theirs) and pass on skills and local knowledge? Meet up for a drink or meal, introduce them to your social circle? Our Club can seem a large and complicated place at first and it can be hard to meet people, especially outside your Class or Section. We are about to start interviewing next year’s new members and want to put a support network in place. Contact me at [email protected]
Calling all singers!
The festive period is coming up fast and at teatime on Saturday 13th December we’ll be gathering round the piano to sing Christmas carols and songs. If you love to sing, come and join the group who will be leading the musicmaking. We’ll have a practice session or two, so contact me at [email protected] to find out more.
Let’s move volunteering forward at Parkstone
Volunteering is at the heart of our Club community. The RYA autumn conferences are all about encouraging volunteering in all its forms and future proofing our clubs. There are free one-day conferences the last weekend in November in Taunton and Southampton, which a few of us are attending. But there are more workshops than people currently down to attend them! If you like what I’m doing in this role, fancy a free day out in one or other place and want to help me, please get in touch - you know how - [email protected]
Thank you to everyone who’s volunteered at Parkstone in 2025, you are all special. Keep up the good work!
